How to Calibrate a Light Meter: Step-by-Step
Step 1: Inspect the detector and allow the system to stabilize. Check the diffuser and detector window for scratches, discolouration, or contamination, confirm the head-to-meter connection, and let the meter, standard lamp, and reference photometer warm up and stabilize at 23 °C ± 5 °C.
Step 2: Perform “as found” verification. Record readings at the specified illuminance levels on every range before any adjustment. As-found data proves whether previously recorded workplace or process lighting measurements were valid.
